Overview Anyone interested in designing and developing an online course is invited to attend the instructional design summit. This full-day summit will cover everything from theory and application of best practices to learning science in online course design. Participants will have the opportunity to apply those models to the development and alignment of learning goals, assessments, and content delivery. Learn tips and strategies for using Studio to build your own course in Open edX. Come prepared with a laptop, an idea for one module of an online course to focus on during the summit, and 1-3 main learner takeaways for that module.
Agenda The summit will start with a discussion of backward course design and student-centered learning. During the morning from 9 am - 12 pm, you will have opportunities to develop and refine your course learning objectives, develop ways to describe your course to others and develop your course and module outline.
In the afternoon from 1:30-4:30 pm, you will get to build the module that you have designed. We will focus on designing and building assessments and ways to deliver content. We will discuss how to design and implement effective and engaging assessments in your module. We will also discuss how to best present content to reach your learning objectives.

Sometimes, he wants to eat EdX developers while other times, he wants to use them to make gold, and still other times, he has even more bizarre uses for them. Though he often catches developers who wander by his home or whom he happens across in the forest, he does not know the location... Read More →
